Spatial Orientation

The Spatial Orientation module measures your ability to understand and apply movement and rotation commands in three-dimensional space.
Module Description
You are shown different cube formations with a spider placed on one face of a cube. You must follow a sequence of spoken commands and determine which cube and which face the spider ends up on.
1. Commands & Perspective
All commands must be applied by placing yourself in the spider’s position.
Command Types
- Turn Commands: Rotate the spider’s head (direction it is facing).
Example: "Turn right" = spider turns to its own right. - Move Commands: Move the spider to a different face of the cube.
Example: "Move right" = spider moves to the face on its own right.
Critical Rule:
All movements are relative to the spider’s perspective, not the viewer’s.
Secondary Tasks (Distraction)
While listening to commands, you must also perform two additional tasks to divide your attention.
Your Dual Tasks
- Left Hand Task: A ball on the left bar moves downward. Press A to push it upward. Prevent it from touching the bottom.
- Right Hand Task: You must keep the mouse moving continuously. Even slow movement is sufficient, but it must never stop.
Penalty:
If either task is missed, a red flash appears and a beep sound plays. This disrupts concentration and increases the chance of missing commands.
3. Final Selection
After the command sequence ends:
- You have 5 seconds to make your selection.
- You must indicate which cube and which face the spider is on.
- If no selection is made, the test automatically moves to the next item.
Key Takeaways
- Always visualize yourself in the spider's position.
- Do not let the distraction tasks stop you from listening.
- A small arrow on the front face helps identify orientation (Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Rear).
